Lord, on Mothering Sunday we think afresh of you in terms of what motherhood involves. Yes the love, and kindness and gentleness, which it would do us so much good to follow. But also the hard decisions of mothers, who must do what is best for their children even when that hurts. The bitterness of loss felt by so many grieving mothers. Lord, seeing you at the heart of all we do sounds like a recipe for a simple good faith. But it seems to me there is nothing simple about it. A bit like sticking to a diet when we love food, we find ourselves constantly finding excuses to stray, distracted by other apparent pleasures. February 26th Lenten journey

Lord, I spend much time on computers and mobile devices and wonder if that is a bad thing. How can it be when most of this time is spent communicating with others? I love to meet people face to face, but technology gives me the added value of meeting them when physically I cannot be with them. My heart is full of thanks Lord for the huge mix of people I meet, both personally and virtually, every day. Such wonderful people that they fill my prayers.
