community psalm making

Yesterday some of the Reader group who were licensed together in October 2010 met together. We met in prayer and in fellowship, offering care and love with the understanding which comes from a shared life-changing experience.

As part of our day, Anita led us in the making of a community psalm, which turned out to be cathartic as so many of the Biblical psalms must have been for their author. Here is the psalm we made together, based on our reflections of the day and of our experience as Readers for the last six years. Thank you to Anita for putting this together.

Community Psalm – Readers’ Gathering

4th June 2016

Guide us, O Lord, in this troubled world.

Go before us to light the way,

and behind us to gather up those left behind.

Lord, in relationship we are strong:

In relationship with each other

we find comfort and loving care.

In relationship with you

we find our true being.

You are always with me;

You’re in the wave that carries me,

the mist that covers me,

in the midst of the chaos around me.

Open my eyes, O Lord,

to see where you wish me to go.

Place my hand in yours;

where you go I will follow,

O my God.

Lord, you have been faithful over many years;

continue to bless us and guide us

as we share your love in our communities.

Seek me in the pools of silence, says the Lord.

I will be found in the depths.

I will be found on the edge,

in the storm,

on the heights.

I am your companion along the way;

do not be afraid.

Lord, help me to trust you with the road ahead.

May I know your voice and follow you with joy.

May I be true to my calling.

Amen.
