Lord, on Mothering Sunday we think afresh of you in terms of what motherhood involves. Yes the love, and kindness and gentleness, which it would do us so much good to follow. But also the hard decisions of mothers, who must do what is best for their children even when that hurts. The bitterness of loss felt by so many grieving mothers. The courage of the mothers of the church. All this in you Lord. Amen
